A Slow Death in Beige

The straight and narrow was supposed to be the answer. The cure-all for that gnawing ache inside, the one that whispers you’re not enough until you conform. Until you trade your wild heart for a nine-to-five and a picket fence. So, I took the bait, swallowed the lie that the mundane could be my salvation. No grand collapse, no spectacular downfall—just a slow, suffocating surrender to the ordinary. The call to adventure, they said, could wait. First, I needed stability, a solid foundation, a life built on the rock of routine. And like a fool, I believed them. I traded the vivid hues of dreams for the grayscale of predictability, convinced that safety lay in sameness. The path before me was well-worn, trodden by countless feet that had come before. But instead of leading me to some promised land, it shackled me to mediocrity, the vibrant possibilities of my earlier years fading like a sunset I’d never see again. Each step on that well-paved road chipped away at my soul, the edges of w...

Transition Without Ceremony

I kept thinking there had to be a cleaner explanation for what this was. . Something neat. Something surgical. One reason I could point at and say there. That is what did it. That is what hollowed the room out. That is what made the phone go quiet. That is what made life look the same and feel wrong. But the truth is uglier than that. It does not arrive in one clean blade. It leaks in. It stains. It settles over a life until one day you realize the things that used to remind you who you were have gone dim. Being expected…  Being part of somebody’s day. Those things reflected a version of me back to myself. Then the pattern broke. The calls thinned out. The routines changed. The access shifted. The world did not explode. It just stopped answering back. And when that happens, the mind starts hunting. It wants...

Exile from Ordinary

EXILE FROM ORDINARY In a world obsessed with comfort and predictability, ordinary becomes a cage. The walls are padded with routines, the locks reinforced with expectations, and the windows sealed by fear. Yet beyond that cage lies the raw wilderness of possibility—untamed, unpredictable, and alive. To step outside is not just rebellion, it is survival. This is what it means to embrace exile from ordinary. The Weight of the Ordinary Ordinary life offers safety, but it suffocates. The daily grind, repetitive conversations, and polite mediocrity demand conformity. The cost of fitting in is the erosion of individuality. Ordinary demands silence when your soul wants to scream. It trades your passion for predictability and your wild dreams for schedules and to-do lists. We live in societies that reward sameness. Education trims edges, workplaces flatten character, and communities idolize the familiar. But history is not written by those who kept their heads down. It is written by the misfit...
